High-pressure simulator sheds light on transition from prebiotic to biochemical reactions

Eloi Camprubi Casas designed and built a microfluidics system from scratch during his recently completed fellowship at the Origins Centre at Utrecht University. This allows the redox reaction of CO2 with H2 to be studied under high pressure. This reaction may well have been responsible for the formation of the first organic compounds and the start of life on earth some 4 billion years ago.
