Living cells are chattering away. Artificial cells are succeeding better and better. Especially now that chemists have found a way to amplify signals. Chemist Jan van Hest, professor of bio-organic chemistry at Eindhoven University of Technology, is receiving the NWO Spinoza Prize 2020 for this work.
